Hollywood movies have a special place in the hearts of world cinema enthusiasts. The Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, are considered one of the most prestigious awards globally. While outsiders rarely win Oscars, even Hollywood-based films face intense competition.

The Academy Awards began in 1927, with “7th Heaven” being the first film to receive an Oscar. Between 1927 and 1959, numerous films won Oscars. However, “Ben-Hur” (1959) set a remarkable record by winning 11 Oscars in various categories. This achievement remained unbeaten for 38 years.

In 1997, James Cameron’s “Titanic” matched “Ben-Hur’s” record, winning 11 Oscars. Notably, “Titanic” was the first film since 1950 to receive 14 Oscar nominations. With a massive budget of $200 million, “Titanic” was one of the highest-budget films of its time.

The 11 categories in which “Titanic” won Oscars include: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing, Best Original Dramatic Score, Best Original Song, Best Sound, Best Sound Effects Editing and Best Visual Effects.
