The iconic duo of actor Suriya and director Gautham Vasudev Menon (GVM) has given us cult classics like Kaakha Kaakha (2003) and Vaaranam Aayiram (2008). Their collaboration was praised for the strong bond they shared. However, their friendship took a hit in 2013 when Suriya opted out of the movie Dhruva Natchathiram, which was initially announced with him as the lead. The project eventually went to Chiyan Vikram, but it has faced numerous delays and is yet to be released.
Why did Suriya reject Dhruva Natchathiram?
The internet has been abuzz with speculation over the years. Recently, GVM opened up about the controversy in an interview with a leading media company.
According to GVM, “After delivering two blockbuster hits together, I approached Suriya with the script of Dhruva Natchathiram. However, he had trust issues with the story from the beginning. He expressed concerns that something about the story didn’t feel right. To be honest, I was shocked that he didn’t believe in me this time. I moved forward, facing production house issues, and have now completed the film. Despite ongoing release issues, I promise my fans that Dhruva Natchathiram will hit the screens soon.”
