Top 3 Controversies that shook Bollywood

Sushant

Bollywood is not just about glamour, dance, and big-budget films. It’s also full of drama off-screen. Over the years, many controversies have shocked fans and raised big questions about the film industry. Some of these controversies involved personal relationships, legal troubles, or serious accusations that affected careers and reputations.

Here are three of the most talked-about controversies in Bollywood

Sushant Singh Rajput’s Death

One of the biggest and most emotional controversies in Bollywood was the sudden death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June 2020. He was found dead in his Mumbai apartment, and the police initially called it a suicide. However, his death soon turned into a national debate.

Many fans believed Sushant couldn’t have taken his own life and demanded a proper investigation.

His family filed a case against his girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, accusing her of mentally harassing him and misusing his money. The case involved multiple government agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED), and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

It also raised bigger issues, like nepotism in Bollywood, where outsiders like Sushant often struggle for recognition, while star kids get easy chances.

Finally Rhea was arrested for drug-related charges (but not directly connected to Sushant’s death) and later released on bail. The final CBI report has not confirmed any foul play yet.

Salman Khan’s Hit-and-Run Case

Salman Khan, one of Bollywood’s biggest stars, was involved in a major legal case after a tragic incident in 2002. He was accused of driving under the influence and running over people sleeping on a pavement in Mumbai. One person died, and others were injured.

Salman Khan was accused of drunk driving, not having a license, and running away from the scene. The trial went on for over 13 years, raising questions about how celebrities get special treatment. In 2015, a sessions court found him guilty and sentenced him to 5 years in jail, but he was granted bail quickly.

Talking about public opinion in this matter, many people felt justice was not served because of Salman’s fame and power. Others supported him, believing it was an accident and that he does a lot of charity work. The case remains one of the most discussed legal controversies in Bollywood.

Kangana Ranaut vs. Bollywood

Kangana Ranaut, a talented actress known for her bold roles, is also famous for her bold opinions. In recent years, she has openly attacked many powerful people in Bollywood.

Her statements have sparked debates, lawsuits, and major backlash. She called director Karan Johar the “flag-bearer of nepotism” during a TV show. This led to a long public fight about favoritism in the industry.

Even in Shushant’s case, she strongly said Bollywood “ganged up” against him and called out big names like Mahesh Bhatt and Aditya Chopra. Even after Sushant’s case, she claimed many Bollywood stars use drugs. This led to NCB questioning several celebrities.

After criticizing the Mumbai police and calling Mumbai unsafe, the BMC demolished part of her office, saying it was illegal. Kangana compared the government to a dictatorship, which led to more political drama.
